Hindi Reels, English Notes: How Wanna Try Reads Hindi Posts and Voice Notes
Save a Hindi reel or speak a Hinglish voice note and Wanna Try gives you an English title, summary and key points, with the original Hindi kept right underneath.
A lot of the best things on Instagram in India are in Hindi. The street food reel from Lucknow. The news post about a new metro line. The finance creator explaining a tax rule. Your friend's voice note, half Hindi and half English.
Most apps either ignore that text or turn it into a mess. Wanna Try reads it properly.
What happens when you save a Hindi post
Say you save a post whose caption is in Hindi, about a new parking building at Assi Ghat in Varanasi. Wanna Try gives you:
- An English title, so it sits neatly with everything else you saved.
- A short English summary of what the post says.
- Key points, one fact per line: the place, the numbers, the dates.
- The original Hindi, kept under the summary in a section called In Hindi, from the post, so nothing is lost in translation.
Hashtag lines and "link in bio" clutter are left out of that Hindi section, so what you see is the actual message.
Hindi text inside pictures
Many posts put the real information inside the image: a poster, a menu, a news card. Wanna Try reads the text in the picture too, including Devanagari, and uses it with the caption to work out what the post is about.
When the caption and the picture disagree, the caption wins. That stops the app from inventing a film or a celebrity just because a photo looks like one.
Voice notes in Hindi and Hinglish
Speak the way you normally do:
"Agle Sunday Jaipur jaane se pehle shopping yaad dilana."
Wanna Try turns your voice into text, understands the Hindi, and saves it as a clear English note with a reminder on the right day. Long voice notes work too; they are read in pieces so nothing in the middle gets dropped. (More on that in Voice notes as reminders.)
Fix a word, and it learns the fix
Speech recognition sometimes mishears a name. If your note says "GB" when you said "Jibhi", type the correction in the note box under it and tap Read it again. Your typed note is treated as correct, so the title, summary and places update to match. Add "remind me the Sunday before" in that box and the reminder gets set too.
Who this is for
- People who follow Hindi creators for food, travel, money and news.
- Families who send each other voice notes in Hindi.
- Anyone who thinks faster when speaking than typing.
